Lemon. Orange. Peach iced tea. Brown sugar. Kenya at its clearest.
Kiamabara is a wet mill in Nyeri County run by Mugaga Farmers' Cooperative Society, established in 1995 near the Kingu River and the edge of Mt. Kenya National Park. The farms supplying it are small — often a quarter of a hectare — and intercropped with bananas, maize, macadamia and beans. Farmers hand-pick and deliver cherries on the day of processing.
At the mill, cherries go through a disc pulper, ferment dry overnight, then wash in fresh water and grade by density in channels before soaking and moving to raised beds for one to two weeks of drying. SL28, SL34 and Ruiru 11 at 1,600 metres. SCA 87.
