La Projecta Coffee: A Community-Driven Initiative

La Projecta is a specialty coffee produced by a community of approximately 150 growers collaborating under a shared vision. Nestled in the Apaneca Ilamatepec Mountain Range, specifically in Canton Buenos Aires and Calzontes Arriba, these farms flourish on the slopes of the Santa Ana Volcano at elevations ranging from 1,300 to 1,700 meters above sea level. The harvest season spans from December to April, ensuring optimal conditions for cultivating high-quality beans.

This initiative was launched by El Borbollon to unite smallholder farmers with exceptional coffee-growing potential, empowering them to participate in a sustainability-focused program. Starting with just 25 growers, each managing farms averaging less than 5 hectares, the project has grown significantly to its current network of 150 participants.

The project aims to:

  • Enhance living conditions for small-scale growers through improved market access and logistical support.
  • Strengthen community ties among local coffee producers.
  • Improve coffee quality knowledge, enabling growers to maximize the value of their harvests.
