Plum. Hazelnut. Dark chocolate. Brazil doing what Brazil does best, without apology.
Cocatrel Cooperative was founded in 1961 in Tres Pontas, Sul de Minas, and has grown into the second-largest cooperative in Brazil, with over 6,000 members and 11 buying points across the region. Cocatrel tags every delivery electronically with a unique QR code, giving full traceability from farm to bag. More than half the members farm less than 10 hectares. Falcon Specialty works with a branch called Cocatrel Direct Trade, which finds the standout coffees from within the cooperative and promotes them for its members.
Castanhas do Brasil means nuts of Brazil. The cupping team at Cocatrel Direct Lab select this blend from Carmo de Cachoeira for its sweet hazelnut praline profile. The coffee dries in static ventilated boxes, one metre deep, holding 25 to 30 bags of green. Vented grills below circulate air through the drying coffee, with temperatures kept below 40°C. After drying, the coffee rests one to two weeks before milling. Mixed varieties, natural process, 900–1,100 metres. SCA 82.75.
Roasted to order in Manchester. Roast date stamped on every bag. Free UK delivery over £30.
